Contemporary Surrealism by Metal Priestess
OCTOBER - NOVEMBER 2022
St. Paul’s is honored to feature an artist who stands in the legacy of Frida Kahlo and Dorothea Tanning. A surrealist painter who combines the gritty, known qualities of bodies and organisms and sublimely infuses them with emotion and pathos. Her work calls into question the tacit assumption that art should “soothe and inspire.” Instead, her work calls the viewer to go into the interior and mine for meaning and truth.
Metal Priestess is from St. Louis. Her works have been shown in galleries around the country and here in St. Louis. She also sells work on the internet.

Metal PriestessA St. Louis local artist bending the edges of reality through surrealism. I am a fine artist who works in multiple media, including acrylic, oil, oil pastel, charcoal, colored pencil, graphite, mixed media, and more. I have been drawing my whole life, strengthening my expression from mind to physical. Through having synesthesia, I bring a heightened sense of wonder into the physical world, letting the viewer into multiple realms. I look to expand this expression by creating an extensive portfolio of surreal artwork, testing the bounds of my artistic abilities with each new creation.
