Pastor Rebecca Ragland
Rebecca was raised in the Evangelical tradition (particularly Methodist Churches). Her parents were medical missionaries. She was born during their time doing mission work in West Africa. After meeting her partner, Scott, she joined the Episcopal Church in 1989. In 1992, Rebecca received a call to ordained ministry. However, she was told by multiple Episcopal clergy at the time that her "voice was too high, she was too young (24) and no one will take you seriously."
Thanks be to God, the Holy Spirit is louder than the opposition! In 2007, after being nominated by a discernment committee at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, serving in training at Holy Communion Episcopal Church, and trained at Eden Theological Seminary, all in St Louis, MO, she was ordained!
Rebecca has served as Assistant to the Rector, Interim Rector, Director of Deaconess Anne House (Episcopal Service Corps) and now serves as Rector at St. Paul's.
She is an ardent advocate for Immigration as hospitality, Dismantling Racism (Arrested three times for civil disobedience) and Climate Justice.
She is committed 150% to "Letting her talk talk and her walk talk, and making sure her walk talks louder than her talk talks." - John Maxwell. She also sucks at math.
She lives with her partner, Scott and has two grown sons, two dogs, and a thousand great ideas.
